Daniela had just released her album January Roses. She told me how one January day she walked into her garden. It was gray and cold, there was snow, and the roses were blooming. When everything feels dark and you are waiting for something good to happen, sometimes there are these roses. Something beautiful happens despite everything. She suggested we photograph in the Sea Garden, but I wanted to go back to the place where the album began, her own garden. The roses had already been pruned, but we photographed there anyway. She is holding the same pruning shears, standing beside the rose bush where January Roses began.

“I want the world to be made of beautiful things. Music is my way of doing that.”
